Logbook servicing
Your manufacturer's schedule, followed properly, with the book stamped.
Service One Automotive at Factory 9, 266 Osborne Avenue, Clayton South VIC 3169 carries out logbook servicing to manufacturer schedules and stamps the service book. Under Australian Consumer Law a new car warranty is not voided by using an independent workshop, as long as the schedule is followed and the parts are of appropriate quality. Ring 0434 949 091 to book. Please call to confirm current opening hours.
The short answer on your warranty
You are allowed to have your new car serviced wherever you like. A manufacturer cannot make you use their dealer to keep your warranty, and telling you otherwise is something the ACCC has publicly taken issue with.
What the manufacturer can reasonably ask is that the servicing was done on schedule, to their specification, with parts of appropriate quality, and that it is documented. That is exactly what a logbook service is.
How we do it
We work to your car's own schedule, not a generic one. The book tells us what is due at your kilometres and your age, including the items that only come up once or twice in a car's life and are easy to skip.
Oils and fluids to the manufacturer's specification, because a modern engine or gearbox is fussy about this and the wrong oil is a real problem rather than a technicality.
Then the book gets stamped and dated, and the invoice itemises what was done. Keep both. If a warranty claim ever comes up, that paperwork is the whole argument.
Capped price servicing
Some cars are sold with a capped price servicing plan from the manufacturer. That is a separate commercial deal, and it is not the same thing as your warranty.
If you have one, bring it up when you ring. Whether it is worth using is a sums question, and the answer changes car to car.
Questions about logbook servicing
Will you stamp my logbook?
Yes. Stamped and dated, with the work itemised on the invoice.
Do you use genuine parts?
We use parts of appropriate quality for the job, and genuine parts where the job calls for them. Tell us if you want genuine throughout and we will quote it that way.
My car has a digital service record rather than a book. Can you handle that?
Plenty of newer cars use a manufacturer portal instead of a paper book. Ring with your make and model and we will tell you straight away whether we can update yours.
What if the dealer told me I have to service with them?
That is not how it works under Australian Consumer Law. There is a longer explanation on our warranty article.
